Oh my god I am so tired of working at my job.
Don't you love people who talk about how tired they are from working so hard? It's so exciting and fun for everybody to hear someone talk about that. The thing is that we have this stupid and insidious obsession with being a Very Hard Worker deeply woven into our culture. I don't know whether it's the fault of Martin Luther or Ronald Reagan, but it's bred into us as Americans...even if we spend our cultural lives actively trying to reject it. Thus, talking about how hard you work is plain and simple bragging. When you complain about how much you work and god you've really gotta take a break, it is a veiled statement to those around you about the sturdiness of your character. What makes it especially exciting and fun to those around you is that this delicious nugget of pure self-aggrandizement is coated with the crowd-pleasing crunchy candy shell of a self-pitying whine -- the best combination.Maybe tomorrow, I will try actually talking about the job.
No kidding, and that's exactly what it is, bragging. It's like in law school; 90% of the students, perhaps 100%, buy outlines and spend the majority of the time drinking themselves silly/ slacking off, all the while complaining to friends and relatives how busy they are. Ah well, I am too busy to be commenting on blogposts, must run.
ReplyDeleteWe all need a good smack in the face.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD I AM SO SICK OF MY JOB. WTFUCK? WHY ALL THIS WORK? SPRING BREAK SHOULD HAVE BEEN TWO WEEKS AGO NOT TWO WEEKS FROM NOW. And it should last TWO WEEKS.
ReplyDeleteThis is bullshit. All of it. Fuck work ethic. More like slave ethic. I DON'T CARE WHO THINKS I'M LAZY. I AM LAZY. WORKING BLOWS. AND I NEED A FRIGGIN' NAP EVERY DAY. WHEN AM I GOING TO GET TIME TO TAKE THAT FUCKING NAP? Imma bout to unionize and immediately strike. Then we'll see who the real bitch is, bitches.
(I am either totally game-changing, or I am totally the best whiner.)
