Glutton for something

In an unexpected turn of events, I am back in a classroom talking about a bunch of crap to a bunch of kids. This job fell into my lap a few days ago. I interviewed at the school in question months before and was politely turned down; then, they called me out of the blue five days ago while K and I were en route to Arkansas and asked if I could join the staff til the end of the year as a sort of teacher/substitute hybrid. Ok, I said. I started this morning, and I'm still a little disoriented.

Now, I know exactly what you're thinking. You're thinking, "but samtron77e. You know I respect your own decisions and wouldn't dream of overstepping my bounds in that regard. And you know that I, of all people, understand that sometimes even life's harshest lessons must be repeated multiple times before they are learned, sometimes for years on end. Goodness, samtron77e, you most certainly remember the mistakes I've made in the past and the fallout they produced! But if you please -- did you not start this blog in January of this year with the original intention of pursuing a catharsis of the dazzling array of shameful personal failures that plagued you as a teacher last fall? This was less than six months ago, you realize. And while we're on the subject, why do you never seem to get around to actually talking in depth about your day to day experiences as a teacher? Is it because it's too emotionally revealing and embarrassing, or is it because you're such a slow goddamn writer that you get bogged down in rearranging the syntax of one totally meaningless transition sentence for half an hour? Anyway. Considering the disastrous outcomes of your last venture into this profession, what the fuck are you thinking? Are you really that blind? Oh and Jesus look at the time -- it's 12:15 AM and you have to get up in six hours and you're writing on your fucking blog? This is your priority at the moment? Right, you're really ready for trying teaching again -- go ahead, be my guest, asshole."

But you know what? Go ahead and think that, because I'm totally secure in my decision.

So long story short, I may not be around for a little while, depending on my schedule (I'm still trying to maintain my old job for part of the day, for the time being). But if I am, expect lots of complaining!!!

  1. Just in time for Easter, a crucifixion. Has no one come by to ridicule your adult decisions?

Just don't stop writing awesome things so I can blog-stalk you.

  2. A whole mob. I don't mind the jeers or the crown of staples and thumbtacks, but I do sort of resent being nailed to this festively colored bulletin board.

    Thank you for reading, ab.
